Cutter Gauthier scored a tiebreaking goal late in the third period that sent the visiting Anaheim Ducks to a 5-3 comeback victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday.
Leo Carlsson collected one goal and one assist, while Jeff Malott, Tristan Luneau and Nikita Nesterenko added goals for the Ducks, who are on a four-game winning streak and 5-1-1 run.
Beckett Sennecke added a pair of assists for Anaheim, which scored four unanswered goals to compete a perfect three-game road trip.
Goaltender Ville Husso made 10 saves after taking the net following the first intermission to record the win. Starting goalie Lukas Dostal was pulled after the first period, having surrendered three goals on 11 shots.
As overtime loomed, Gauthier showed his hot hand when he blasted a one-timer from the right faceoff dot with 94 seconds remaining. Gauthier has scored 10 goals in a five-game spree and collected 13 points in a seven-game streak.
Nesterenko added an empty-netter to round out the scoring.
William Stromgren, Joel Hanley and Joel Farabee replied for the Flames. Morgan Frost had two assists while goalie Dustin Wolf made 24 saves.
The Flames received a strong start when Stromgren pounced on a rebound chance to open the scoring at the 2:23 mark, but Malott tied the clash 27 seconds later by converting a rebound after his first opportunity was denied.
Hanley, who played for the first time since the second game of the season because Kevin Bahl suffered a lower-body injury, restored Calgary’s lead with his first goal since April 5, 2025 at the 16:29 mark. The defenseman buried a rebound for his first goal in 75 games.
Farabee capped his team’s first three-goal first period of the season with a final-minute power-play goal.
The high-flying Ducks found their game after that. Luneau made it a one-goal game at 12:02 of the second period when he fired a top-corner shot from the slot to extend his point-scoring streak to seven games (three goals, seven assists).
Jackson LaCombe set up the goal, which extended his franchise-record assist streak for defensemen to nine games, in which he has potted 13 helpers.
Carlsson tied the clash 55 seconds into the third period with a power-play tally of his own, a one-timer from the slot. Anaheim has scored a power-play goal in seven consecutive games.
Carlsson has collected 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in a seven-game point streak.
